Refine your culinary skills and learn more about operational management in the hospitality industry.

When you complete the Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery, you’ll be able to lead a team as a kitchen supervisor or be a professional chef in a commercial kitchen (such as those found in a resort, hotel or restaurant).

You’ll learn practical skills in areas such as food preparation and presentation, financial management, health and safety procedures and people and operations management.

General Information
Experienced teachers, who are experts in the field, will guide you through the program, which includes online and workplace assessments, excursions, and opportunities to network with industry specialists. You’ll also be able to participate in professional industry competitions.

With this nationally recognised qualification, you’ll be ready to lead a team as a commercial kitchen supervisor or work as a professional chef in restaurants, hotels, clubs, pubs and cafes.

Delivery is 3 days per week 8.30am – 3.30pm

The course is full time over six months for those who have successfully completed SIT30816 Certificate III in Commercial cookery.

Entry criteria

Australian Year 11 or overseas equivalent

Academic IELTS 5.5 with no band less than 5.0, Applicants need to have a basic knowledge of the use of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Internet and email use and have access to a computer or tablet, Australian Year 11 or overseas equivalent, Please note: students will be required to undertake manual handling, including heavy lifting of up to 8kg, use kitchen tools and utensils and be able to stand for a minimum of 4 hour blocks.
