As a student, you will be working with academic mentors who are active designers and artists in their respective fields. Our design degree is a multidisciplinary bachelor that propels you to discover your creative potential through innovative solutions to globally relevant design challenges.

During your first trimester with us, you will have the opportunity to explore different facets of art and design through lectures, hands-on workshops and creative labs. This will allow you to then personalise the remaining of your Bachelor of Design Arts with the selection of a major and/or a sub-major.

Fashion & Costume Design at LCI Melbourne is a unique specialisation where you can explore innovative techniques in the design and creation of fashion collections and/or costume for cosplay, stage or film. Innovation and creative thinking provide the foundations as you discover industry techniques including high quality pattern making and garment creation.

You will conceptualise innovative presentations, predict future trends, and discover fabric appreciation and manipulation. You will explore responsible design through consideration of sustainable materials, no waste strategies and customer needs. You will also learn how to style, shoot and promote your work, with an understanding of the impact of social media.

The Filmmaking & Photography major specialisation applies a holistic approach to creative fields of design, through visual narrative perspectives. This major specialisation allows you to develop, edit and refine ideas and visual storytelling skills, across a variety of creative mediums.

The LCI Melbourne Graphic & Digital Design major specialisation will provide you with a broad range of specialisations, such as print, typography, branding, packaging, and digital design for online delivery.

Whatever design direction you take, the major specialisation allows you to create and produce conceptual and technically refined designs against objectives and outcomes outlined in client briefs.

The LCI Melbourne Interior Design major offers you various opportunities to develop a unique personal aesthetic and change the way people live. You will learn how to conceptualise, develop, and produce dynamic and engaging spaces in various environments.

The LCI Melbourne Visual Arts major specialisation provides a unique opportunity to explore and express your creativity, collaborate with like-minded artists and network with industry leaders.

LCI Melbourne offers a studio-based environment where you can create your own exhibition and work space. The major specialisation supports you to realise your creative vision, develop a personal design ethos and succeed in artistic industries. You will develop foundational skills and artistic techniques that will provide a framework for emerging creative practices.

Course Length: For all majors, course length is the Bachelor of Design Arts can be completed over 2 years full-time (300 credit points). Part-time study is also available. An academic year is divided into three twelve week study periods, called ‘trimesters’. But for Interior Design major, course length is the Bachelor of Design Arts can be completed over 3 years full-time (300 credit points). Part-time study is also available. An academic year is divided into three twelve week study periods, called ‘trimesters’.
