Summary
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualized plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.
Qualification rules
To achieve a CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support, 13 units consisting of 7 core units and 6 elective units must be completed.

Work Based Training
120 hours of industry placement, which must be undertaken to successfully complete this course. A National police check will be required for work placement.

Career Opportunities in the Industry
This qualification provides a pathway to work as a Personal Care Assistant, Support Worker, In House Respite Worker, and Assistant in Nursing in organisations such as Age care homes and nursing homes etc.
Assessment Methods
The following assessment methods (but not limited to these) will be used: Direct Observation, Assignments, Project, Student Presentations, Case Study Practical Demonstrations, Written Assessments and Log Book.
Modes of Delivery
This program is delivered in a classroom-based environment with access to a Practical Aged Care lab for practical components of the course. In addition, students will also be required to undertake a practical placement in a workplace environment under supervision to ensure the student can perform the work as expressed in each unit of competency. Each unit is delivered and assessed as a standalone unit. This program also contains an e-learning component to consolidate their learning.

Completion of Australian Secondary (Year 12) education or equivalent
Have obtained an IELTS band score of at least 5.5 - or equivalent test score; or
Have completed a Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma level Training Package course in Australia; or,
Have completed any Certificate III or Certificate IV in ESL or EAL from the ESL/EAL Framework (VIC)
