Summary

This course is for people working in the automotive industry who want a career as an automotive light vehicle mechanic. Students will learn how to service, repair and diagnose faults in motor vehicles weighing up to 4.5 tones. Students will learn how to diagnose service and repair faults in light vehicle engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brake and electrical systems and components.

Duration

International: 70 weeks including 10 weeks break (All the course for International students are run over 2.5 days for a minimum of 20 hours per week).

  • Projects
  • Case study
  • Observation (simulated workshop)

Entry criteria

Completed year 11 or equivalent.

Pathways into the qualification

Credit may be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed AUR20512 Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology, AUR20712 Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation or other relevant qualifications.

English Requirements:

  • Must have an IELTS score of 5.5 or
  • Must have a TOEFL iBT score of 46 or
  • Must have a PTE Academic score of 42 or
  • Must have a Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) score of 47 or
  • Must have an OET score of pass
