Summary

The Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Theology (BBus/BTh) is a double degree that innovatively unites the best of both our Business and Theology programs. The first double-degree of its kind in Australia, graduates of this course will have forward thinking and analytical skills that will allow you to analyze your future business endeavours, providing you with a competitive advantage. We offer a range of majors in both Theology and Business allowing you to structure your learning to best suit you’re calling. The Business Specialisation offers majors in Leadership & Management and Accounting. The Theology Specialisation offers majors in Christian Studies and Languages.

Course Structure

The course structure of the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Theology combined degree is based on eight semesters (each of 13 weeks duration), with four subjects taught in each semester. It is a combination of two separate courses undertaken concurrently for a reduced total duration. Every program for this award shall include:

  • All core subjects from each of the separate awards (160 credit points)
  • Two specialisations (one from each of the separate awards) (160 credit points)

To qualify for the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Theology, a candidate shall accrue an aggregate of at least 320 credit points (32 subjects), including satisfactory completion of the core subjects noted below.

Students must complete 2 subjects (20 credit points) in Professional Practice and complete minimum 60 credit points at 300 level.

Course Learning Outcomes

Graduates will demonstrate

  • a broad knowledge of business theory, as well as business principles and practices;
  • a deep knowledge of Christian history, doctrine and tradition as a foundation for ministry, with depth in the areas of (1) Leadership and Management; Human Resource Management; or Marketing; and (2) Christian Studies; Biblical Studies; or Theological Studies;
  • skills to analyse, synthesise, and apply knowledge of business theory, principles and practices;
  • skills to analyse and interpret the biblical text, using sound hermeneutical methods, as a core document of the Christian faith with consideration for the contemporary application of the text;
  • cognitive and technical skills required for professional activity, with depth in two areas of either (1) Leadership and Management; Human Resource Management; or Marketing; and (2) Ministry; Chaplaincy; or Humanities;
  • skills to understand and communicate a Christian worldview, with particular emphasis on the role of the gospel in providing an ethical framework for business practice
  • ability to identify issues and to provide creative solutions, by integrating their Christian worldview with business acumen, to complex issues;
  • skills in critical thinking and self-directed research, using a range of sources and methods;
  • communication skills to present theories, ideas and arguments to specialist and non-specialist audiences using appropriately selected communication methods;
  • ability to discuss and analyse contemporaneous topics, issues and challenges impacting on business and ministry in Australian and international contexts, and create solutions to these challenges;

Entry criteria

For Applicants with Recent Secondary Education

Completion of NSW Higher School Certificate with an ATAR of 65 or higher, or the completion of the interstate or overseas equivalent qualification and result.

For Applicants with a Vocational Education and Training Qualification

Completion of an Australian Certificate IV or higher qualification awarded by an authorised institution or registered training organisation.

For Applicants with a Higher Education Qualification

Completion of an Australian Level 7 Bachelor degree awarded under the Australian Qualifications Framework (or equivalent overseas qualification).

OR

Completion of an Australian Level 8+ postgraduate qualification awarded under the Australian Qualifications Framework (or equivalent overseas qualification).

International Students will be required to show proficiency in English. Specific English requirements for this course are a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 overall, reading 6.0; writing 6.0; speaking 6.0; listening 6.0 (or equivalent).
