Summary

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in a wide variety of dance performance contexts. They apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems, and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others and have limited responsibility for the output of others.

PERFORMING OPPORTUNITIES: There are 3-4 production opportunities per year in our very own heritage theatre.

AUDITIONS: We have two scheduled rounds of auditions and invite auditions by appointment if you are unable to attend at these times.

There will be no disadvantage for video submission.

Students develop technical and creative skills in discipline areas of Ballet, Pointe, Character, Contemporary techniques, Choreography, Jazz, Performance skills and Fitness.

Entry criteria

Students who enter the Certificate IV course will either be completing their final years of schooling or wish to fast track their training towards preparation to audition into the Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) course.

Acceptance is by audition only (followed by invitation to submit last academic results and zoom interview), Students without formal qualifications will need to provide The National Theatre Ballet School with evidence of an LLN test in order to access VET Student Loan funding. Applicants must be the candidate and must demonstrate competence in Classical Ballet at Certificate III level. Study a recognized classical ballet syllabus Intermediate and above.

The Certificate IV in Dance has no minimum age requirement

If students are aged under 18 they must have a legal guardian living in Melbourne and accepting full responsibility for the student's welfare.
