Overview

The Masters Qualifying Program (Business and Law) offers a quality pathway to selected Deakin University postgraduate programs in Business. The emphasis is on developing the skills necessary for success at postgraduate level. The MQP is taught by Deakin College and Deakin University’s English Language Institute (DUELI).

Course Structure

To complete the Masters Qualifying Program (MQP), students must complete:

Two discipline-based units (with an achieved pass grade)

MPAQ701 Accounting
MPEQ781 Economics for Managers
MPFQ753 Finance
MISQ770 Foundation Skills in Data Analysis

Plus two academic skills-based units (with an achieved pass grade)

XDP701 Academic and Intercultural Communication for Postgraduate Study
XPD702 Academic Writing and Research Skills Development for Postgraduate Study

Each unit includes four hours of teaching per week: a two-hour lecture followed by a two-hour tutorial.

Student must also complete one zero credit point unit:

Entry criteria

Completion of a three-year post-secondary study qualification (equivalent to post-Year 12).

  • India/Pakistan–three year qualification post Standard/Class XII
  • China–three year qualification post Senior High School Certificate
  • Sri Lanka–three year qualification post A-levels.

English requirements:
An overall band score of 6 or above in the IELTS (Academic module) with no individual band score less than 6; or equivalent.
