Summary

In our nationally recognized Advanced Diploma of Visual Art develop a range of technical skills and conceptual strategies in visual art whilst developing their own individual direction. Participants discover and learn new methods and are able to focus on work and materials of their own choice. Through the course they will undertake subjects in studio practice, painting methods, sculpture, drawing and mixed media, art history, digital & moving image, and photography and exhibition practice. Students have the option of enrolling in an art focused stream or a photography focused stream in visual art.

Latrobe College of Art & Design is one of the leading colleges of art in Melbourne and its new Collingwood studio warehouse provides an exciting environment in which to study fine art and visual art.

Small class sizes and one-to-one teaching allow students to rapidly forge a creative direction and identify an independent visual art practice. A studio space will be allocated to students in their second year of study.

Our visual art courses are taught in fully equipped studios with up-to-date amenities, digital labs, workshops and common rooms required to create an amazing learning environment. Students also exhibit their work in the Latrobe College Gallery Space and each year has the opportunity to join the annual trips to New York, the Venice Biennale or Berlin to complete an intensive unit of study.

Entry criteria

Students must have completed Diploma of Visual Art.

New or inexperienced students, as well as those with experience, can apply. Applications are open to both year 12, non-year 12 and mature applicants.

Students will need 5.5 IELTS test score for English or equivalent if English is their second language.
