Summary

The Diploma of Engineering Technology is a blueprint for your engineering, drafting and design future and also makes up the first year of the Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology. Our multidisciplinary approach provides the opportunity to commence an Engineering program learning all essential basics before you specialise in one of two exciting Streams: Civil Engineering Design and Mechatronic Engineering Design.

Civil Engineering stream

Enhance your knowledge and gain practical and technical skills to work with Civil Engineers in the design and construction of Infrastructure projects.

The Civil Engineering stream in the Diploma of Engineering Technology allows you to work alongside Civil/Structural Engineers who are involved in the design and construction of buildings, bridges, frameworks, airports, railways, roads, dams and reticulation systems.

Mechatronic Engineering stream

Take your workshop engineering skills further and prepare for increased responsibility and greater earning potential.

This stream of the qualification will allow you to assist senior designers, production supervisors and professional engineers who are involved with the design, development, evaluation, manufacture, installation, testing, operation, maintenance and management of machines, mechanical and mechatronic systems, automated systems and robotic devices, materials and materials handling systems, manufacturing equipment and process plant.

Academic: Australian Year 12 equivalency

English: Academic IELTS 5.5 with no individual band below 5.0, Pearson PTE Academic 42 overall with no individual communicative skill below 36, or Melbourne Polytechnic recognized equivalency. TOEFL iBT: 49 overall (Writing: 18, Speaking: 16, Reading: 8, Listening: 7); Cambridge English Scale (Cambridge: First (FCE), Cambridge: Advanced (CAE), Cambridge: Proficiency (CPE)): 162 overall (individual bands: 154); Melbourne Polytechnic: ELICOS - 2+ ISLPR overall individual bands: min ISLPR 2.
