Summary

BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management reflects the role of individuals who apply knowledge, practical skills and experience in leadership and management across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level display initiative and judgement in planning, organising, implementing and monitoring their own workload and the workload of others. They use communication skills to support individuals and teams to meet organisational or enterprise requirements. They plan, design, apply and evaluate solutions to unpredictable problems, and identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources.

This qualification has a total of 12 Units of Competency

  • 4 core units, plus
  • 8 elective units

Exit Point/Award

Students that successfully complete all 12 units of competency as stated in the Course Content and Structure will be issued with BSB51918 Diploma of Leadership and Management. This qualification is recognised nationally under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

Students that complete some but not all of the units of competency as stated in the Course Content and Structure may be issued with a Statement of Attainment. It will identify only those units of competence that have been completed as part of the qualification and recognised nationally under the AQF.

Assessment

Students are required to undertake a range of theoretical and practical assessments for each unit of competency. The methods of assessment will vary according to the requirements of each unit of competence and these include but are not limited to:

  • Tests
  • Case studies
  • Projects
  • Essays
  • Portfolios
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Presentations

At the beginning of each term, students are provided with information for each unit of competency that clearly outlines the assessment tasks required including the criteria and due dates.

Entry criteria

International students must be 18 years of age or above

Year 11 or equivalent and above, and

English Language Entry Requirements:

  • IELTS score 5.5 minimum (no lower than 5.0 in each band); or equivalent
  • Cambridge Exam score B1 (PET) or higher
  • ELSIS Online Placement test score Upper – Intermediate or higher
  • ELSIS courses score General English 12 weeks of Intermediate level or higher Completion of EAP 1 Completion of Cambridge course B1(PET)
  • External: Upper Intermediate Level Certificate
