CRICOS course code: 086202A

Level of study: Pathways to Undergraduate

Summary

This is a full-time accredited course of study which equips students with a comprehensive grounding in anthroposophy, and in the theory and practice of Steiner Education.
It provides an essential and critical pre-requisite pathway to a university Bachelor of Education, which qualifies graduates to teach in both Steiner schools and mainstream Australian schools. Steiner Schools around Australia have an urgent need for professionally trained Steiner teachers, and highly regard this qualification as the basis for employment. See our Careers/Graduate Outcomes and Pathways page for further information about employment as a Steiner Teacher.
The course also provides a rich experience for students seeking to develop themselves in accordance with their deepest nature and to find their true path in life.
Over the year the students are involved in a broad range of studies which are theoretical, practical and artistic, described in brief below.
In a Steiner curriculum, painting, drawing and modelling, music, drama and movement are not only stand alone subjects, but are fully integrated across almost every area of the curriculum. For example, numeracy, literacy, geography, history etc.
In the first semester, students take a series of foundation modules in the themes of human psychology and development, and pedagogy, to provide a basis for the rest of the course. From the second semester, we enter a deep exploration of how the Steiner curriculum unfolds in relation to stages of child development, while also learning about classroom management, developing learning and assessment programs, and professional communication.
