Summary

This qualification is suitable for anyone currently working as a carpenter in a construction environment. This qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications. You will learn the basic foundations and content to develop the skills and knowledge used in the building and construction industry to efficiently produce quality work. You will also learn about safe work practices and about the context of the building industry.

Program Structure (Core and Elective Units)

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:

30 units of competency:

  • 22 core units
  • 8 elective units.

Qualification

On successful completion of this course the learners are going to be awarded Certificate III in Carpentry CPC30211, which is a nationally recognised qualification. Possible career outcomes may include carpenter, joiner.

Students who do not complete all units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in partial completion of the Certificate III in Carpentry CPC30211.

Mode and Method of Delivery

Study mode: Full time (20 hours per week - 70% hours face to face and 30% hours online), Learners may require 10 hours of self-directed learning per week (Indicative only).

Delivery mode: Blended Model supported with Learning Management System. Please contact Student Services for more in-formation.

This is an intensive program that is delivered through blended training model. Students are required to attend 14 hours/week (Including Tutorials/Simulation or Construction Site visit) and 6 hours Online based on Flipped Learning (within 20 hours per week schedule).

Employment Pathway

After successful completion of Certificate III in Carpentry CPC30211, learners can expect to gain a wide range of skills and knowledge and a trade outcome in carpentry, covering work in residential and commercial applications.

Entry criteria

All students must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission to the College.

Satisfactory completion of Australian Year 11/12 qualification or equivalent.

IELTS band score of overall 5.5 (Academic or General) or equivalent in line with the Department of Education and DOHA regulations.

If student’s educational qualifications do not meet OIC’s admission requirements, other factors may be considered at the discretion of OIC.

CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry will be co delivered in Week 1 of the course start date and delivered as additional elective. If a student has already completed or has latest White Card, then they do not have to complete this unit. This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work or access to any construction site. There is no charge from OIC for this unit.
