Summary
A Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) teaches you to use natural remedies to help the body heal itself. In this naturopathy degree, you learn the foundations of health science, clinical assessment, and herbal and nutritional medicine therapeutics. The course delivers a patient-centred approach incorporating biomedical science, research and traditional knowledge to teach safe and effective prescribing.

Course overview
As a naturopathic health care student, you will study health science, clinical assessment, herbal and nutritional medicine therapeutics. You can choose from an elective bank of subjects including traditional naturopathic modalities, advanced clinical nutrition, counselling and public health. During your bachelor of naturopathy, you will gain hands-on experience at The Practice Wellbeing Centre where you will consult with members of the public under the guidance of experienced naturopaths. This will prepare you to confidently start practising in the community.

This course will prepare you to confidently start practising naturopathy in your community. You’ll have the opportunity to start your career in a health clinic with naturopathic specialisation, promote your naturopathic knowledge as a health writer, join the growing complementary medicine industry in an exciting corporate role, or research naturopathy practices.

Subjects and units
Each subject involves 10 hours of study per week, comprising 3 hours of facilitated study and 7 hours self-directed study. Some subjects include compulsory attendance in class, at Torrens approved external practitioner placement and work integrated learning placements at The Practice Wellbeing Centre.
International students must not enrol in more than one-third (33%) of online subjects over their course and must study at least one face-to-face subject each study period. Most face-to-face courses are also available online. Please note that due to COVID-19 pandemic, authorities have provided exceptions to the usual face-to-face learning requirements.
International students on a student visa are required to study full time, i.e. the student must complete a minimum of 1.0 EFTSL of study per year.
