Summary

Diploma of Early childhood education and care reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. They will be able to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care course may be completed as a stand-a-alone qualification over a 2-year period, full-time, attending weekly theoretical classes in our modern and custom designed Parkville campus training facility. Our holistic approach to learning is underpinned by our student work placement program where students complete 500+ hours scheduled of on-the-job mentoring at a prestigious child care centre in Melbourne.

Learning to analyse and interpret children’s play, you will be able to enhance their learning opportunities and developmental progression. You will also discover the value of documentation as a design process creating collaborative discussion and interpretation for continued learning. You will graduate as an Early Childhood Educator that will mold the lives of future generations.

Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care requires the completion of 28 units.

Units of Study

This qualification requires the completion of 28 units including 23 core and 5 elective units which ZOI Education have selected to include.

Credit Transfers & Higher Education

Students who complete the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care may go onto enrol into the CHC50113 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. Students who enrol into the Diploma after completing the Certificate III with ZOI Education will receive 18 unit credits into the Diploma. Alternatively, students may enrol directly into the Diploma without completing the Certificate III.

Students may also go on to study other related higher level qualifications such as:

• CHC52015 Diploma of Community Services
• A Bachelor of Early Childhood Education and Care (or similar e.g. Community Services)

What Can I Do Upon Graduation?

After graduation from the Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care at ZOI Education you will be qualified to work as the following:

• Long day Care
• Occasional care
• Family day care
• Preschools and kindergartens
• Early intervention
• Out of school hour’s case services
• Child care center manager

In addition, upon completion of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care you may decide to move onto Higher Education and complete a Bachelor of Education (Early Years or Primary).
