Summary
This qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to plan, design, manage and monitor an enterprise information and communications technology (ICT) network as an independent ICT specialist or as part of a team responsible for advanced ICT network security systems. The qualification has a high-level ICT technical base with appropriate security units and the ability to specialize in a number of areas, including voice, wireless, network infrastructure and sustainability.
Pre-training Review
All learner will undertake pre-training review which aims to identify their training needs through questions on previous education or training, relevance of the courses to learner, basic computing skills and interview conducted by NAIT enrolment officer. Interview also aims to identify possible RPL opportunities, confirm oral communication skills. Through pre-training review learner will demonstrate that they have necessary skills to successfully complete the course
Computer literacy requirements:
All learner enrolling in to ICT programs must have basic computer skills and Learner will be required to undertake NAIT’s Computer skills test prior to course entry. Students those who do not possess basic computing skills will be referred to take basic computer skills course e.g. International computer driving licence (ICDL) provided free of cost or COMPTIA Academy basic computer usage course (fee charged) which can be provided by NAIT or students can choose to take course with other institutes).
Materials and Equipment Required
Although NAIT will provide access to computers/laptops with required resources during classroom hours however to work on assignments and tasks for self-study, all Learner/students are expected to have access to a laptop or computer with the Windows 7 operating system or higher. Students must have an active email address for communication and be contactable by phone (mobile or landline) and by mail (postal address). All Learner/students are expected to have access to MS office application such as Microsoft Word, an email platform
Assessments
This program is delivered under competency-based training which means instead of grading or marks, students are required to demonstrate all the criteria for each unit of competency and student are marked “Competent or “Not yet competent”. NAIT will use a range of assessment methods to assess required skills and knowledge for each unit of competency in the course. Assessment may be a combination of written questions, assignments, role plays, case studies, projects and practical observation.
Study Pathways
This program is part of the ICT Information and Communications Technology Training Package and offers pathways into a number of business and management qualifications. After completing this course , students may pursue further studies in VET Graduate Diploma or Bachelor Degree programs offered by Australian Higher Education providers.

Academic requirements
To enter this qualification, applicants should have successfully completed Australian senior secondary school examination (year 12) or higher (e.g. Certificate III or Cert IV or Diploma in relevant field IT telecommunication).
English language requirements
International students applying for this course either off-shore or on-shore will require:
Either a minimum IELTS (Academic) test score of 5.5 or equivalent for direct entry into a VET course;
or, IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 10 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;
or, IELTS score of 4.5 or equivalent with an ELICOS course (up to 20 weeks) to be taken before the main VET course;
Results older than two years are not acceptable.
