Summary

Two year Nationally Accredited Full-Time CUA60113 Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) offering a comprehensive course covering a wide range of classes and dance styles, with a strong base of classical ballet. This course provides the ideal stimulus for students aiming for careers in dance.

The course has a comprehensive curriculum including classes in Classical Ballet, Pointe Work, Pas De Deux, Variations and Repertoire, Specialized Coaching, Contemporary, International Character, Boys Classes, Fitness, Limber, Anatomy and Injury Prevention, Drama, Nutritional Guidance, Music, Dance Theory, Stage Craft and Applied Industry Studies. Throughout the year students are given performing experience and audition opportunities.

The progress of all students is carefully monitored and following assessments they receive individual reports. Assessments in the CUA60113 Advanced Diploma of Dance (Elite Performance) are conducted in Semester One and Semester Two of First Year, and then in Semester One and Semester Two of Second Year. The course emphasizes correct placement, dynamics, performing quality and the development of a professional attitude.

The students are trained in the most up to date methods and styles in order to be fully prepared for the current requirements of international ballet and dance companies, and choreographers. All students are given specialised coaching and participate in our fully staged productions in preparation for a professional career in dance. Applied Industry Studies give the students practical, personal and writing skills necessary for a professional dancing career.

Former (Australian Conservatoire of Ballet) students have entered professional dance companies including The Australian Ballet, The Royal New Zealand Ballet, Queensland Ballet, Colorado Ballet Company, Kiev Ballet Company, The Norwegian National Ballet, Prague National Theatre Ballet, Ballet Landestheater-Salzburg, Ballet Ireland, Deutsche Oper-Berlin, Royal Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Ballet Manila, Sarasota Ballet, Houston Ballet and many other European dance companies.
