Summary

The purpose of this program is to prepare students to continue and expand their career within the marketing industry, and more specifically to international students wishing to attain an Australian nationally recognised qualification in marketing. The program provides learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to undertake marketing activities in roles such as marketing officers, market research assistants, marketing coordinators, marketing officers and public relations officers.

Target Group

The target market for this program includes international learners over the age of 18 wanting to further their education in the marketing industry. Students may have some experience in the marketing industry and must have completed all core units in the BSB42415 Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication. As the BSB42415 is delivered by Leeds College of Melbourne, it is anticipated that majority of interest in this course will come from Certificate IV level graduates interested in continuing their studies. Typically, the target group for the BSB52415 Diploma of Marketing and Communication are those who may be:

  • seeking to pursue a career in marketing
  • seeking to progress in their career in the marketing industry
  • seeking a pathway into higher education qualifications Some students entering into this qualification may have English as a second language and as a result may have additional support requirements.

Pathways

Once students have successfully completed BSB52415 Diploma of Marketing and Communication they can apply for roles within the marketing industry that have responsibility for the work of other staff and lead teams in conducting marketing campaigns. This may include role titles such as Marketing/Communications Coordinator, Marketing/Communications Manager etc.

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into such courses such as

  • BSB61315 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication
  • Other Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Degree programs in related fields such as business, marketing and communications.

Assessments will be completed in class and there may be a need for some work to be done as homework however this is not expected to exceed 3 hours per week. Student will be advised by the trainer and assessor about the assessment requirements for each unit at the commencement of delivery for that Topic.

Entry criteria

This course is available to students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • have completed the pre-requisite units listed below?
  • BSBCMM401 Make a presentation
  • BSBCRT401 Articulate, present and debate ideas
  • BSBMGT407 Apply digital solutions to work processes
  • BSBMKG417 Apply marketing communication across a convergent industry
  • BSBMKG418 Develop and apply knowledge of marketing communication industry
  • have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent
  • Are at least at age of 18 on the date of course commencement
  • have the required level of Language, Learning and Numeracy skills required by the course determined completing a Leeds College Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment conducted by a Leeds College Trainer/Assessor which includes a written test and interview to complete the verbal component of the test.
  • meet ONE of the following English proficiency requirements of this course

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.5
  • TOEFL internet-based test 46
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English) 162

OR

Be able to provide any of the following evidence of English Language competence?

  • that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country
