Summary

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as marketing directors, marketing strategists and national, regional or global marketing managers. Individuals in these positions provide leadership and strategic direction in the marketing activities of an organisation. They analyse, design and execute judgements using wide-ranging technical, creative, conceptual and managerial competencies. Their knowledge base may be highly specialised or broad within the marketing field. These individuals are often accountable for group outcomes and for the overall performance of the marketing function of an organisation.

Target Group

The target market for this program includes international learners over the age of 18 wanting to further their education in the marketing industry. Students may have some experience in the marketing industry and must have completed all core units in the BSB42415 Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication. As the BSB42415 is delivered by Leeds College of Melbourne, it is anticipated that majority of interest in this course will come from Diploma level graduates interested in continuing their studies. Typically, the target group Communication are those who:

  • seeking to pursue a career in marketing
  • seeking to progress in their career in the marketing industry
  • seeking a pathway into higher education qualifications

Some students entering into this qualification may have English as a second language and as a result may have additional support requirements.

Pathways

Once students have successfully completed BSB61315 Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Communication they can apply for jobs within the marketing industry which may be responsible for leading the marketing or communications function of an organisation. Position titles may include; marketing directors, marketing strategists and national, regional or global marketing managers.

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into courses such as an undergraduate degree in marketing or related business areas.

Assessments will be completed in class and there may be a need for some work to be done as homework however this is not expected to exceed 3 hours per week. Student will be advised by the trainer and assessor about the assessment requirements for each unit at the commencement of delivery for that Topic.

Entry criteria

This course is available to students who are able to provide evidence that they:

  • have completed the pre-requisite units below?
  • BSBMKG507 Interpret market trends and developments
  • BSBMKG523 Design and develop an integrated marketing communication plan
  • BSBPMG522 Undertake project work
  • have completed Australian Year 12 or equivalent
  • Are at least at age of 18 on the date of course commencement
  • have the required level of Language, Learning and Numeracy skills required by the course determined completing a Leeds College Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment conducted by a Leeds College Trainer/Assessor which includes a written test and interview to complete the verbal component of the test.
  • meet ONE of the following English proficiency requirements of this course

Evidence of holding any of the following English language test scores within the last 3 years?

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 5.5
  • TOEFL internet-based test 46
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English) 162
  • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) 42
  • Occupation English Test B for each test component

OR

Be able to provide any of the following evidence of English Language competence?

  • that they were educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country
  • successful completion of at least General English Upper Intermediate or English for Academic Purposes Upper Intermediate level
