This course is designed for students that have never flown before and wish to have a career in aviation as a pilot. The course comprises 10 Units of Study, each of 4 weeks in duration – and therefore takes 40 weeks to complete (plus scheduled holidays mid-winter and late December. Students are enrolled in Part 142 CASA Integrated Course (theory and practical flight training.)

Cessna and Piper's aircraft are used, which are ideal in preparing students for their first jobs in aviation.

Most of the course occurs on weekdays, however, students will also conduct a cross-country.

Entry criteria

To succeed in this course, you will need to possess strong language, literacy and numeracy skills. Aircraft performance calculations demand advanced numeracy skills, and you will also need to have a good level of English language skills to interpret the exam questions asked by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Additionally, you will need to have good language skills to communicate effectively in person, as well as when using an aeronautical radio, particularly in high-pressure situations.

Numeracy Assessment ELITE will provide you with a link to an online numeracy assessment, and you will be required to meet a minimum pass mark to proceed in the screening process

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Testing If you cannot provide an HSC certificate, or English is your second language, or if ELITE have concerns about your literacy level, you will be required to undertake a recognised Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test.
