This option of the Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating) is designed for students who already hold a Commercial Pilot Licence.

The course is designed to prepare students for their first job in aviation; either as a Charter Pilot or a First Officer in an airline.

This course lasts for 20 weeks. At the end of the course, successful students will be awarded a Diploma of Aviation and will qualify for a CASA ME CIR assessment.

It is a full-time course with compulsory attendance from Monday to Friday, and there are no scheduled holidays during the course. Extra attendance may be required, depending on the weather.

Entry criteria

To succeed in this course, you will need to possess strong language, literacy and numeracy skills. Aircraft performance calculations demand advanced numeracy skills, and you will also need to have a good level of English language skills to interpret the exam questions asked by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA). Additionally, you will need to have good language skills to communicate effectively in person, as well as when using an aeronautical radio, particularly in high-pressure situations.

Class 1 Medical an ARN is required before applying for the medical. bit.ly/CASADAME

Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC) an ARN and confirmed operational needs from our Chief Flight Instructor are required prior to enrolment. bit.ly/CASAASIC

Numeracy Assessment ELITE will provide you with a link to an online numeracy assessment, and you will be required to meet a minimum pass mark to proceed in the screening process

Language, Literacy and Numeracy Testing If you cannot provide an HSC certificate, or English is your second language, or if ELITE have concerns about your literacy level, you will be required to undertake a recognised Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) test.
