Good humanitarian action is intended to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity before during and after disasters and conflict. This is informed by principles of Humanity; Impartiality; Neutrality and Independence.

Effective humanitarianism involves quality preparedness and delivery of aid, working with affected communities and populations, their representatives and other stakeholders, to ensure their identified needs are met. Increasing complexity of humanitarian contexts requires an agile approach focussed on locally led action where possible and global engagement where required. Course structure

To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate of Humanitarian Assistance, a student must successfully complete 4 credit points of study comprising:

2 credit points of core units
Any 2 credit points from Course Electives List
Academic Integrity AAI018
Academic Integrity (0-credit-point compulsory unit)

Entry criteria

Admission is based on:

  • Bachelor degree or higher
  • Two years relevant work experience
  • Evidence of academic capability judged to be equivalent.

IELTS: Overall 6.5 No band lower than 6

TOEFL IBT: 79 Writing 21; TOEFL PBT: 577 Writing 4.5

C1 PROFICIENCY and C2 PROFICIENCY: 176 No band less than 169

PTE: 58 No less than 50 in each skill

OET: Overall C+
