Summary
Live your values. Transform lives.
Inequality is growing.* As the world's richest people strengthen their hold on power and resources, more than 700 million people around the world have been left far behind in extreme poverty.** And with growing global uncertainty, this figure is rising. To combat this alarming trend, we desperately need highly trained professionals who have the skills to build a more just world.
If you're looking to quickly build your expertise in international development and make real change, La Trobe's Graduate Diploma in International Development is the perfect way to advance your knowledge in just one year.
Learn the latest best practice and become a confident practitioner in the humanitarian and development sector.
Gain essential skills from industry experts who will share their experiences and knowledge. You'll explore global issues such as poverty, justice and social change, while learning how to create sustainable, positive change in areas where we need it most.
After successfully completing the Graduate Diploma in International Development, you'll be eligible for one year of advanced standing – which means you could transfer directly into the Master of International Development, should you decide to further your studies.
You'll learn:
How to design and deliver development projects
Understand how to work in partnership with local communities and create projects that address inequality.
Policy and practice frameworks
Develop the knowledge and skills you need to successfully operate in the development sector.
How to drive social change
From grassroots activism to governmental policy, you'll learn how to engage with individuals, communities and organisations to create positive change.
Development sector best practice
Become familiar with the tools and techniques commonly found in development practice, including logframes, project proposals and 'theory of change' documents.
The qualification awarded on graduation is recognised in the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) as Level 8 - Graduate Diploma.
