Major Description

Discover psychology using a scientific approach and deepen your understanding of how people think, behave, and interact with one another. You’ll build practical skills in analysis, evaluation, communication, and application of information in areas including social psychology, psychological health and illness, psychological assessment and intervention, and research.


Where one or more subjects are shared between this major and another component (course, second major or minor) the subject/s will be replaced with an elective at the level of the common subject. Where a combination of this major and another component (course, second major or minor) exceeds 4 common subjects this combination will become incompatible.

Major / Minor intended learning outcomes

On successful completion you will be able to:

1. Apply systematic, detailed knowledge and understanding of Psychological Science
2. Develop creative, critical and analytical skills to address problems in a range of social and cultural contexts.
3. Demonstrate high-level, ethical, professional and culturally aware communication skills.
4. Design and conduct independent and collaborative research into questions in Psychological Science, considering ethical implications and multiple perspectives.
5. Navigate, critically assess and strategically utilise information from digital sources relevant to the field of Psychological Science.
6. Demonstrate flexibility and resourcefulness to act as critically engaged global citizens.

Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 Senior Secondary Certificate.

English language requirements

IELTS Academic: Overall score of 6.0 with no band less than 6.0

TOEFL iBT: Overall 64 with 13 in Reading, 12 in Listening, 18 in Speaking and 21 in Writing

PTE Academic: Overall score of 50 with no communicative skill score less than 50

C1 Advanced: 169 with no less than 169 in any component

C2 Proficiency: 176 with no less than 169 in any component
