Gain the knowledge and training required to become a skilled manager in the hospitality industry with a Diploma of Hospitality Management at Victoria University Polytechnic.

You will be credited for up to 96 credit points of study.

Course structure

To be awarded SIT50416 Diploma of Hospitality Management, a student must successfully complete a total of twenty-eight (28) units of competency, comprising of:

  • thirteen (13) core units, and;
  • fifteen (15) elective units, consisting of:
  • one (1) unit from Group A;
  • one (1) unit from Group B;
  • eight (8) units from Group C, and;
  • five (5) units from Group C, elsewhere in SIT Training Package, or any other current training package or accredited course.

The selection of electives must be guided by the job outcome sought, local industry requirements and the complexity of skills appropriate to the AQF level of this qualification, as well as be approved by Victoria Polytechnic.

Learning outcomes

This qualification reflects the role of highly skilled senior operators who use a broad range of hospitality skills combined with managerial skills and sound knowledge of industry to coordinate hospitality operations. They operate independently, have responsibility for others and make a range of operational business decisions

IELTS (Academic module): Overall score of 5.5 (no band less than 5.0)

TOEFL Internet: Overall score of 55 (Listening 9, Speaking 16, Reading 10, Writing 18)

Pearson Test of English (PTE): Overall score of 42 (no section score less than 40)

University of Cambridge - Advanced (CAE): Overall score of 162. No individual band less than 154.

VU English - English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (Level 4): achieved.
