The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) is a higher education diploma which provides an alternative pathway to the second year of a bachelor degree. The units are similar to those in the first year of a bachelor degree, but classes are smaller and students have more one-on-one time with teachers.
The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) provides a credit-bearing pathway into a selection of information technology related bachelor degrees. The topics covered seek to blend a range of key skills and knowledge required by current and projected industry needs.
UniLink is accredited as an award-level higher education diploma.
After completion of the chosen bachelor degree, graduates may find employment in database administration, electronic publishing, information architecture, internet systems development, online entertainment, multimedia application design, project management, software development, systems analysis, web design and more.
Aims and objectives
The Diploma of Information Technology (UniLink) (8 months) is designed as a high quality transitional education program that aims to prepare students for successful Higher Education studies. The program consists of eight units over two fourteen week teaching periods and is designed to provide students with a sound understanding of the basic IT principles to enable them to learn valuable Information Technology skills which can be used later in their life. Students will be exposed to subjects from each of the core Information Technology disciplines as well as Communication for Information Technology.

If you’re currently in Year 12 or have completed Year 12 in the last seven years, you’ll be considered for admission to undergraduate courses primarily based on whether you have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), or an interstate or international Year 12 qualification.
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 4 Upper Intermediate level) with overall 65%, all skills 60%; minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0; TOEFL iBT (internet-based) 50 (no less than 5 in reading, 5 in listening, 14 in speaking, 15 in writing); Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 42 (no communicative skills less than 36); any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
