Summary

In the Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping students learn to perform duties such as:

  • completing Business Activity Statements (BAS)
  • operational reporting
  • producing non-complex management reports
  • setting up and operating a computer-based financial system
  • classifying, recording and reporting accounting information
  • establishing and maintaining a payroll system
  • managing a small office and ensuring relevant legal requirements are adhered to

After successfully completing this course, students may wish to continue their studies with the Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217).

Course structure

To obtain this qualification, students must complete 13 units, including 8 core and 5 elective units. The full-time course will be delivered face-to-face in the classroom in one semester of 16-18 weeks duration. The part-time course will be delivered face-to-face in the classroom in two semesters each of 16-18 weeks duration.

Entry criteria

If you’re currently in Year 12 or have completed Year 12 in the last seven years, you’ll be considered for admission to undergraduate courses primarily based on whether you have successfully completed the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE), or an interstate or international Year 12 qualification.

English language requirements

Satisfactory completion of one of the following:

minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0

TOEFL iBT (internet-based) 50(no less than 5 in reading, 5 in listening, 14 in speaking, 15 in writing)

Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 42 (no communicative skills less than 36)

C1 Advanced 162, no band less than 154

any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
