The UniLink Bridging Program (Engineering) prepares students for entry to the Diploma of Engineering (UniLink).
This program will help you build your knowledge and give you confidence to communicate at a tertiary level, particularly in an engineering setting.
You’ll gain the early practical and foundational skills used across engineering specialisations, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering and more.
If you want to progress to further tertiary study, a broader range of opportunities may become available from electrical and electronic engineering, robotics and mechanical engineering, telecommunications, architectural engineering to product design, and construction.
This program enables students to gain the initial understanding of engineering related subjects: chemistry, mathematics, communication, science and physics. Further tertiary studies in engineering specialisations can open up a range of career opportunities in civil engineering, construction engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, robotics and mechanical engineering, telecommunications engineering, architectural engineering, biomedical engineering and product design engineering.
Aims and objectives
The UniLink Bridging Program (Engineering) aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills and capabilities required to meet the entry requirements to progress to a UniLink diploma. The program is designed for international students whose primary language is not English and who have completed an Australian Year 12 equivalent but have not met the ATAR or grade required to enter the UniLink course.

Successful completion of the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalent, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification; and successful completion of Year 11 Mathematics or equivalent that includes topics in coordinate geometry, circular (trigonometric) functions, calculus, algebra, statistics and probability.
VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a minimum study score of 20 in any English or English as an Additional Language (EAL).
English language requirements
Satisfactory completion of one of the following:
Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 4 Upper Intermediate level) with overall 65%, all skills 60%
minimum IELTS overall band of 5.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 5.0
TOEFL iBT (internet-based) 50 (no less than 5 in reading, 5 in listening, 14 in speaking, 15 in writing)
C1 Advanced 162, no band less than 154
Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 42 (no communicative skills less than 36)
any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency.
